PRESIDENTS REPORT:
Welcome to all.
Long before the thought of being nominated, Julie and I had planned a trip to Belgium to see where my grandparents fought side by side and were both wounded along with one of the unknown soldiers, Julies great Uncle. Then England and Ireland. We are leaving tomorrow morning on the early train so I hope we can expedite this meeting.
One of my first tasks taken as part of my policy input was to contact Consumer affairs about an issue raised at the July meeting and to clarify banking and Taxation status.
The answers have been discussed at the Committee meeting and are provided below.
- It is fine to have a combined secretary / treasurer, many tier 1 clubs do
- You could be silly and have one person holding all 4 positions provided you have a minimum of 5 members.
- Cheque accounts will now continue until the banks themselves abolish them.
- We are NOT tax exempt till we prove it by doing a self-assessment similar to what the treasurer currently does for consumer affairs. Tax department will eventually clarify but as a Tier 1 club we will be last to be told.
We also spent $83 with Logos Ahead updating our logo and this should be on all official documentation by the club from now on.
Surf City Safari
I will miss the Surf City Safari, arriving home the following week.
Thank You
Bill Owens
