SECRETARY REPORT
Hope you all had a fabulous Christmas & New Year. It was a sad ending 2023 for Steve Heazlewood. Let’s hope Steve has a speedy recovery. Danial McKenzie is recovering well after his health scare.
Just a few statistics from me about my time as Secretary/Treasurer over the last 14 years. In my absence I was nominated as Secretary/Treasurer and you haven’t been able to get rid of me and that’s when the Minute taking deteriorated.
14 years ago, there were 148 members. That number is now 290. We would have lost approx. 50 members and gained 200 new members. The increase in numbers grew considerably in 2014 when Club Permit changes happened.
Sadly, in that time 7 active members have passed away. I have had the pleasure to work with five Presidents and I have enjoyed my time as Secretary/Treasurer and have met lots of great people. I try to remember all names not just “mate”. Over the years members have enjoyed the relaxed Short Meetings and still have time for a chat and coffee after meeting but in more recent times the meetings have gone in a different direction and taken the format associated more with a Service Club like Lions, Probus or Rotary Clubs. I have been made to feel by a few, that my minute taking is not up to the required standard so at the AGM I will not be seeking reelection as Secretary but would still be willing to be treasurer and be available for signing of Club Permits.
We wish Ken & Sue Sadler all the best in their move to Queensland.
Thank you. Happy Riding for 2024. ELAINE

XMAS PARTY - Thank you Ken Rowe for organising Images Restaurant . 59 attended and all had a great night.
A number of concerns were raised as to why we need to raise money for Donations and why do we need sponsors for our Rally when the Club is financial and can afford to buy their own raffles for Dinner at Rally.
Why do we have to donate every year to Charities?
Bill Owens raised a point in the constitution that we are a Not for Profit Organisation.
These issues will be discussed at a Committee Meeting.
A suggestion from Colin Rogers was put forward to start all rides at 9.00am not just the first Sunday of the month. The benefit of the change would lead to an earlier return home. After a short discussion it was decided to carry on discussions amongst members until the next meeting on 14th March when a decision will be made. Please send/email Bruce with your thoughts on this.
