PRESIDENTS REPORT
Barry welcomed members to meeting and quest speaker Matthew Porter.
The club welcomes Matt Porter from the Neil Porter Legacy as our guest speaker tonight.
Surf City Safari
Earlier in the year there was a concern that numbers attending the Safari were going to be down on last year. However, with a little push from Elaine advertising the Safari, numbers improved to where we had 62 entries. It turned out to be one of the best rallies we have organized.
There are a number of members that I would like to thank for their ongoing support of the Surf City Safari. First of all, I would like to thank Elaine for her tireless work behind the scenes with arranging sponsorship, sending out the entry forms and organising all those jobs that ensure our rally runs well.
Thanks must also go to Bruce Brown for organising the two days of routes we covered. Bruce not only plans the route, he rides these various roads ensuring the roads are suitable to ride. Comments came back from some of the old stalwarts that the marshalling on corners was the best we have had and again that was a credit to our club members and Bruce for organising and being a part of the ride.
Ken Rowe this year was happy to lead both days of the ride. Thank you Ken
Other members I would like to thank are, Trevor McKenzie who along with Jamie Nicholson captured many of the stunning photos that were seen on our Facebook page, and Shane McGrath for following the group, sometimes very slowly with his car and the breakdown trailer with no mishaps this year.
Thanks also to our scrutineers Max and Nathan Brown.
Sponsors
This year we were very lucky to have many of the old sponsors on board and some new ones.
Our major sponsorship this year came from Warrnambool Nissan, who handed over 3x$500 service vouchers. Our first major raffle winner was David Wain from Ballarat.
David was presented with his voucher from the Principal of Warrnambool Nissan and our special guest Ben Turner-Dwyer. After Ben presented the $500 Service Voucher to David, Ben gave us an update of where Warrnambool Nissan and the affiliated car dealerships were planning for the future.
A little about our major sponsor:
For more than 6 years the friendly staff at Warrnambool Nissan have been selling and servicing New and Used vehicles in Warrnambool and the surrounding area.
Warrnambool Nissan at a glance: We are a family-owned business. We are a multi-award-winning Nissan Dealer.

Neil Porter Legacy
Matt Porter our guest speaker at the November meeting , gave us an insight as to what the ‘Neil Porter Legacy’ was about.
‘The Neil Porter Legacy is making career education a priority with a locally focussed and action-based approach in the south-west of Victoria. We are a not-for-profit that’s committed to exposing students to a variety of careers throughout their schooling. We don’t push for students to enter any particular industry or area of study, we show students their many options through organising guest speakers, tours of workplaces, excursions, incursions, hands-on learning and the sharing of resources so students can make informed career-based decisions’
2023 Donations
I opened the discussion by forwarding ideas and names as to who we could donate monies to this year. I forwarded the following names:
Members wanted to know how much we had in the bank before we continued with the discussion.
It was decided then after listening to Matt Porter with his brilliant presentation that a motion was moved and passed that we would donate $2000 to the Neil Porter Legacy and Salvation Army Toy Run, with $1000 going to The Gillan Boys Foundation to fight Muscular Dystrophy.
After the motions were moved and supported discussion took place as to setting a budget each year at our AGM as to how much we allocate to donations. This will be discussed at the next committee meeting.
Christmas Party
This year our Christmas Party will be held once again at Images Restaurant Liebig Street on Thursday 14th December in the downstairs dining area commencing at 6:00pm. All welcome.
New Member
We had one new member inducted into our club. We welcomed Mr. John Alexander Lester a retired engineer from Terang. John was nominated by David Gibbons.
